A LETTER FOR THE LITTLE ONE

Today is Fave’s 23rd week. The site’s pregnancy checklist includes writing a letter to our baby, and I am excited to do it! So here it is.

Dearest Fave,

You are 23 weeks old today! Yay! Can you feel our excitement for you? We are almost there, baby. Three more months and we will see you here! You will be soon all over our tiny place! How are you, baby? Is it too tight in there? Or are you having fun “swimming” in that precious amniotic fluid? We felt you today. You are having stronger kicks (or punches?) recently. They make your dad excited! 🙂

They said that by this time, you can now hear sounds from outside my body. Can you hear our prayers for you every night? We always pray for you, for us – for our safety. You know, before you came, daddy always prayed silently before sleeping. Now, he prays a bit louder; he wants you to hear his voice and prayers, I think. I encourage him to talk to you frequently, but he loves touching you in my belly more. And I find it sweet. However, the other day, you punched him in the face! We were both feeling sleepy, and he laid his head on my stomach. After a while, he suddenly rose up with a silly smile, saying that you kicked him. I felt that too (of course)! 🙂 It is the strongest movement we felt so far. We are not sure whether that was a punch or a kick, but it felt great! It is as if you are talking to us that way. I laughed at your dad’s reaction so much. 😀 See, we are that excited to communicate with you, baby.

Yesterday, we searched for the meaning of the names we prepared for you. I hope we can visit the doctor soon so that we will know which name to pick. Don’t worry; we will not play games with your name. We will make sure that your name will be a declaration of the life you will live, a prayer from our hearts.

If there is only one thing I want to tell you today and want you to know in the future, I can only think of this: I love you, we love you, baby. I never knew that I can be this strong physically, emotionally, and mentally. Friends and families know how fainthearted I am, but you make me stronger each day! My love for you drives me to do things I couldn’t before. You made me feel like having a vaccine and a blood test is so normal; I hate needles. You caused me to (slightly and briefly) read articles about surgery and other medical stuff now and look at wound images; I find them so disturbing! Thank you for letting me know that there is always an extra strength inside me.

Fave, you will forever be our treasure. I love you so much, baby! Keep on growing healthy inside mommy’s womb. See you in about three months, little one!
