So let me continue with my little discoveries while being pregnant here. If you haven’t read the first part yet, please click here.
4. Pooping can take 30 minutes inside the comfort room.
Is this an exaggeration? For others, yes. For me, most of the time, no; sometimes, yes. My point is, it is longer than my previous normal. Whenever I need to relieve myself, it will take around 3-5 minutes only. That quick. I did not imagine that I can take longer time just to release those wastes! Google said that changing hormone levels in early pregnancy cause the intestines to slow down the movement of stool. As a result, the colon absorbs more water from the stool, which makes it solid and difficult to pass. It is also said that the growing uterus can put pressure on the bowel, which makes it harder to move stool through the intestines. These explain my experience. I am also taking vitamins rich in iron, which can cause constipation. Don’t worry, I’m still fine. I can do this!
5. You will want to ditch the bras.
Bra size differs, depending on the brand you are wearing. I usually pick 34B ones. I feel the most comfortable with them so I assume that’s the best size for me. Before pregnancy, I am already used to not wearing bra at night. Many women will agree that it is more comfortable that way, right? However, on the 5th month of pregnancy, I did not expect that I will not want to wear any bra even at daytime! Well, we can say that it is because of the heat; this April sun is just too much!
As a curious mom-to-be, I again searched the Internet regarding why would I feel like going braless now. (My husband would tell me that I am a bold star at home. If you are a Filipino, you probably know what I mean.) I read in a forum that one reason could be the increase in breast size during pregnancy due to hormonal effects. And I will agree to that. My 34B size is now 34D, I think. I am still thankful; we will probably have no problem with my milk flow soon. Another reason they said is that the increasing size of the uterus in the abdomen causes a slight compression over chest because of the upward pressure of the uterus. Consequently, it makes breathing difficult. I can relate to this one as well!
6. Cutting your toe nails will never be that easy.
I have never ever thought that cutting toenails will be difficult during pregnancy. Well, we know why that happens. It is not easy to bend or curl your back, especially when you are in your 2nd or 3rd trimester. So misters out there, please be kind with your wives when they ask you to cut their nails. They are not putting on a show or acting out. It is just really difficult. This is the same with scrubbing the legs when taking a bath. I find it funny though. I dared not to bend to scrub them in fear of hurting my little one if I would bend. So difficult!
Let me end my list with that one, although there will be more to discover for sure. Remember, I am just on my 5th month. 🙂 These things may be causing me discomfort, but I know that these too shall pass! Pregnancy is a gift, and I will enjoy this as much as I can! I hope you will too (if you are also pregnant)! God bless!
Did I gather my thoughts well here? Did I write with coherence? I do not know. I am neither a good storyteller nor a writer. I would like to just stick to the reason why we have this blog. We want to remember our experiences by writing them down. If you have the same or other experiences that you want to share, kindly comment below. Thank you for reading our first post!
