We knew that it is just a joke.
When Jolina or Sharon was at the peak of her career, many babies were named after her. When Esperanza hit our TV screens, you may encounter a woman named after it. News channels were reporting newly born babies named even after typhoon if they were born during such time! It just became part of Filipino customs or tradition.
So when an image of a birth certificate went viral because a baby was named Covid Rose, we’re all affected. It hits us emotionally. We don’t know if it’s a fake image or not, but to name a baby after a virus is not a good idea. At least, for me.
I tell you why. This is simple. If you don’t believe in forever, believe now. Your name is forever. From the day we were born to the time our names will be engraved on stones at the grave yard, our name will last a lifetime. It is our label. It describes who we are. Who will want to be called as this and that and be laughed at because of that name? No one!
“If you don’t believe in forever, believe now.
Your name is forever.”
For expecting couples like us, aside from knowing the gender of our baby, it is exciting to think of names for our little one. We want it something that he/she will really treasure and understand later, a name that he/she can walk on with pride. So here is a story of how we came up with a nickname for our baby. Please take note-this is just a nickname. We already have baby names if he/she will be a girl or boy, but let us use our prepared (and preferred!) nickname first.
It was November of 2019. My wife and I were tasked to share during one of our Sunday Services. It’s just uncommon that both of us agreed to the same topic, the favor of God (another blog entry for this). We were set-up by God. Favor is approval, that is, to look upon fondly. Favor is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. It is God’s reward for obedience. And this is exactly what our little one is!
A week before Christmas, we discovered that we were six weeks pregnant! It is an answered prayer for us! Tracing back, it was during our preparation for the favor of God preaching that our baby was conceived. 2019 is our year of the Lord’s favor. Before it ended, we received the greatest favor we could ever have – our little one who is and will be forever favored. That is why, we’ll call him/her Fave. And that is how he/she will be called here from now on.
He/ She is our Fave!
